Properties and production of thermo-wood:

During thermo-wood treatment, the wood is heated to temperatures between 180 and 230° Celsius in the absence of oxygen. This significantly reduces the wood's ability to absorb water, thus depriving wood-degrading fungi and bacteria of their food source. This increases the durability of the wood. All wooden parts of the barrel sauna (except for the feet and window and door frames) are made of Nordic thermo-wood.
