Properties and production of thermowood:
During thermowood treatment, the wood is heated to temperatures between 180 and 230° Celsius, excluding oxygen. This significantly reduces the wood's ability to absorb water, depriving wood-decaying fungi and bacteria of their food source. This increases the durability of the wood. All wooden parts of the barrel sauna (except the support feet and window and door frames) are supplied in Nordic thermowood.
