Properties and production of thermo-wood:

During the thermo-wood treatment, the wood is heated to temperatures between 180 and 230° Celsius, excluding oxygen. This significantly reduces the wood's ability to absorb water, and wood-destroying fungi and bacteria lose their food source. This increases the wood's durability. All wooden parts of the barrel sauna (except base feet, window and door frames, end boards, and terrace boards outdoors) are made of Nordic thermo-wood.
