Properties and production of thermo wood:

During the thermo wood treatment, the wood is heated to temperatures between 180 and 230° Celsius, excluding oxygen. The wood's ability to absorb water is thereby greatly reduced, and wood-destroying fungi and bacteria thus lose their food source. This increases the durability of the wood. All wooden parts of the barrel sauna (except base feet, window and door frames, end boards, and exterior terrace boards) are supplied in Nordic thermo wood.
