Properties and production of thermo wood:

During thermo wood treatment, the wood is heated to temperatures between 180 and 230° Celsius, excluding oxygen. This greatly reduces the wood's ability to absorb water, and wood-destroying fungi and bacteria thus lose their food source. This increases the durability of the wood. All wooden parts of the barrel sauna (except base feet, window and door frames, end boards, and outdoor terrace boards) are supplied made of Nordic thermo wood.
