Properties and Manufacturing of Thermowood:

During thermowood treatment, the wood is heated to temperatures between 180 and 230° Celsius in the absence of oxygen. This greatly reduces the wood's ability to absorb water, and wood-destroying fungi and bacteria thus lose their food source. This increases the durability of the wood. All wooden parts of the barrel sauna (except for feet, window and door frames, fascia boards, and outdoor terrace boards) are delivered made of Nordic thermowood.
