This sauna house is optionally available in natural spruce or with thermo-wood treatment!
Information on thermo-wood treatment:
By slowly heating the wood for several hours from 160° C to max. 230° C in an oxygen-poor atmosphere, the wood's components are transformed. This change results in several advantages for our sauna houses made of thermally treated wood:
- The natural resistance to fungal attack and animal pests increases because certain wood components that microorganisms feed on are noticeably broken down by the heating process.
- The wood's water absorption capacity decreases. Swelling, cracking, or shrinking of the wood is reduced. The maintenance effort for our thermo sauna houses becomes lower.
- The hours of heating the wood evaporate the moisture trapped within it.
- Pine and spruce thus become weather-resistant: instead of (untreated) a few months, they now last for years.
- The transformation process gives the wood a smoky smell, which diminishes over time. The color of the treated wood is dark to coffee brown.
Important care instructions for thermo-wood:
It is advantageous to apply a protective coat of paint against blue stain and fungi at regular intervals. Those who love the grey color of the wood caused by weathering can forego further care treatments for thermally treated wood. Windows, doors, panels, and sauna benches are not made of thermo-wood.
