This sauna house is optionally available in natural spruce or with thermal wood treatment!
Information on thermal wood treatment:
By slowly heating the wood for several hours from 160° C to a maximum of 230° C in a low-oxygen atmosphere, the components of the wood are transformed. This change offers several advantages for our sauna houses made of thermally treated wood:
- The natural resistance to fungal infestation and animal pests increases because certain wood components, which microorganisms feed on, are significantly broken down by the heating process.
- The water absorption capacity of the wood is reduced. The swelling, cracking or shrinking of the wood decreases. The maintenance effort for our thermo sauna houses is reduced.
- The moisture trapped in the wood evaporates due to the hours of heating.
- Pine and spruce are thus weather-resistant: instead of (untreated) a few months, they now last for years.
- Due to the transformation process, the wood acquires a smoky smell, which subsides over time. The color of the treated wood is dark to coffee brown.
Important care instructions for thermal wood:
It is advantageous to apply a protective coating to the wood at regular intervals against blue stain and fungi. If you like the gray color of the wood caused by weathering, you can forego further care treatments for thermally treated wood. Windows, doors, panels and sauna benches are not made of thermal wood.
