It's the world's first remote camera to support SMPTE ST 2110 and 5G routers (USB tethering compatible) for operation in networked studio infrastructure and remote productions. This flexibility, combined with specifications comparable to those of a system camera, enables unique and new video captures.
Advanced connectivity
The AW-UE160 supports HDMI, 3G-SDI, and IP interfaces, as well as 12G-SDI and fiber optic outputs. The camera is equipped with two XLR channels for audio input. The output method can be selected according to the operation, making it easy to complement an existing production environment or create a system tailored to the site.
Furthermore, there are no restrictions on the video output method. Output from multiple video formats is supported, enabling simultaneous operation in UHD and HD. For example, it is possible to set up a system that operates with three ports: one for 4K output (12G-SDI | HDMI), one for the converted HD signal (3G-SDI OUT1), and one for HD image control (3G-SDI OUT2).
Wide range of supported protocols
- High-bandwidth NDI and high-efficiency low-bandwidth NDI|HX2, which encode and transmit high-quality video in real time, are included
- SRT support for stable video transmission over the public Internet
- Live broadcast via RTMP/RTMPS/MPEG2-TS/RTP(RTSP)
Latest generation image processing processor and phase detection autofocus (PDAF)
The AW-UE160 utilizes a next-generation image processing engine that delivers enhanced processing power. Images captured by the 1-type (effective size) MOS sensor, which offers an excellent balance between sufficient depth of field, high image quality, and high sensitivity, are processed at high speed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio.
In terms of autofocus (AF) performance, subject detection performance has been significantly improved through faster information processing and improved AF algorithms. High-precision AF is achieved by distinguishing between subject movements and characteristics. It also offers high video processing performance, enabling unique video expression with resolution performance, high sensitivity performance, and color reproduction that doesn't compromise your commitment to video image creation.
The AW-UE160's new AF system, which combines phase detection AF with contrast detection AF, enables fast focusing speed and high focusing accuracy for the PTZ camera. It enables subjects to be tracked and sharp images captured, whether the camera is continuously focusing on a moving subject or shifting focus between multiple subjects.
AR/VR positioning with FreeD protocol
In order to integrate realistic VR (Virtual Reality) or AR (Augmented Reality) studio sets into your live productions, accurate tracking data for camera positioning is essential.
The AW-UE160 features the FreeD protocol, which allows users to output pan, tilt, zoom, and iris information directly from the camera to the tracking system via the serial interface (RS 422) and IP (UDP). The FreeD protocol is supported by most common virtual set systems. Thanks to the AW-UE160's FreeD-compliant control, robotic camera systems can be integrated into virtual studios/virtual sets without the need for encoders.
Outstanding performance in low light conditions
The high sensitivity of F14/2,000 lx ensures clear, interference-free images even when shooting moving subjects in dimly lit environments such as stages and live events. The sensitivity can be set to either Normal Mode (F11/2,000 lx) or Low-Light Mode depending on the shooting location and scene.
Optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS)
In addition to optical image stabilization, which utilizes moving optical elements in the lens, the camera also features electronic image stabilization, which together enable highly effective correction of unwanted camera shake. Shake-free images with reduced blur can be captured even where special equipment such as rail systems or camera robots are used.
Equipped with a tally lamp front and rear
The AW-UE160 features an additional tally light on the rear of the camera (operator side) that allows the camera status to be visible from all angles. The front and rear tally lights are linked, allowing the brightness of both to be adjusted simultaneously, or the tally lights to be turned off completely. The third, additional amber tally light can be used to signal for a variety of applications, such as when there are a large number of cameras, when multiple cameras are used on-site, or when simultaneous streaming and recording are required.
Video return channel path
The return output can be used as an image output on the PTZ camera for image preview or teleprompter output, where the performer can review the streamed or broadcast video on-site. This allows for easy correction when performing chroma key compositing or when linking to AR/VR systems, for example.
Supports 2x high-speed video output
The AW-UE160 captures smooth and impressive slow-motion video by producing high-speed recordings at 100p (50 Hz) / 119.88p (59.94 Hz)—so you won't miss a single frame of the decisive moment. Output via HDMI output or two parallel SDI OUTs (3G SDI OUT1 | 3G SDI OUT2). Output via two parallel SDI OUTs requires a separate slow-motion replay server.
Cropping function
The AW-UE160 PTZ camera allows you to select a cropped image, adjust its position and zoom, and output it simultaneously, in addition to the entire image captured by the sensor. The cropping function can be specified from a maximum of three positions and can be easily controlled via the AW-RP150 PTZ camera control unit or the web browser screen.
Support for V-LOG outputs
Compatible with V-LOG, used in Panasonic's VariCam series and LUMIX mirrorless cameras. The wide dynamic range and wide color gamut enable the output and recording of images suitable for color grading. When used with V-LOG-equipped handheld and studio cameras, video production with consistent image generation is possible. Additionally, two settings, V-LOG and V-709, can be independently selected for each output interface. Supports simultaneous output of 4K V-LOG video for color grading while simultaneously outputting HD V-709 video for on-site monitoring.
HDR (HLG) support
The camera supports HDR (High Dynamic Range), which prevents highlights from fading and shadows from darkening. This enables image quality that is close to that seen with the naked eye. The color balance is adjusted to match the BT.2020 color gamut (compliant with HLG/BT.2020).
Support for 5G mobile routers for video transmission
4K video data can be transmitted wirelessly on-site by connecting a 5G cellular router to the rear terminal via USB. It's also possible to broadcast events and live streams from locations without cables or from outdoor venues.
Simplified use of multiple cameras and simplified color matching
The scene file feature allows users to save up to eight scene files with different camera settings and copy them to multiple cameras using a computer. This significantly reduces on-site setup time for events with a large number of cameras.
Color matrix control allows for adjustment of on-screen color reproduction and facilitates color matching. The workload for image and color matching can be reduced, reducing the time and effort required for system deployment and video production preparation.
In addition to the AW-RP150 for camera positioning, the AW-UE160 can be operated simultaneously with the AK-HRP1010 / AK-HRP1015 camera control units for camera control.
