About electrical stimulation
Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is a type of body reshaping using electrical impulses that cause muscle contractions, thus producing an effect similar to conventional muscle massage. It's a form of passive exercise that allows you to increase muscle tone and combat muscle weakness by increasing volume, strength, and resistance.
What does it consist of?
Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) uses electrical currents that simulate the electrical impulses sent by the central nervous system to trigger muscle contraction. This stimulation is achieved by precisely placing several pairs of electrodes on the area to be treated. The goal is to induce a muscle contraction as if the impulse originated in the brain, which cannot distinguish between voluntary and involuntary contractions. This muscle contraction occurs without any effort on the part of the patient and in a safe manner.
What are the effects?
Electrical stimulation, combined with a balanced diet, strengthens muscles and makes them more resilient. It also improves blood circulation in the lower body and promotes the removal of excess fluid. Electrical stimulation is highly effective in relaxing and massaging muscles by stimulating lymphatic circulation and improving muscle tone in the arms, thighs, glutes, and legs. It also aids in the elimination of toxins and fat deposits, and in strengthening breast tissue.
Applications
This technique offers a wide range of treatments, as it can be applied to various parts of the body such as the gluteal muscles, thighs, abdomen, legs, arms and face, among others.
What is it suitable for?
- Overweight
- swelling
- Intrusiveness
- Removal of excess fluid
- flaccidity
- Physical care
- After birth
Contraindications*
- People with pacemakers
- People with heart disease or heart rhythm
- Any type of muscle damage
- Pregnant women
- Do not use in the liver area in people with liver dysfunction or lithiasis.
- Severe or uncompensated circulatory disorders: phlebitis, thrombophlebitis, severe varicose veins...
- People who suffer from epilepsy
*The intensity of the contractions should never be painful. Excessively intense contractions can cause tears and muscle damage. For specific health problems, it is always advisable to seek the advice of a professional therapist.
Meetings
A stimulation session lasts approximately 30 minutes and should take place 2 or 3 times per week. After 4 to 6 weeks, a significant reduction in fluid retention and the volume of fat deposits can already be seen. Muscle tone is also improved.
