Varying power consumption in single-family and two-family homes requires an easily plannable system with flexible storage capacities. The compact Vitocharge VX3 photovoltaic power storage system was designed precisely for this purpose. It features a hybrid inverter for connecting photovoltaic modules and/or batteries. The inverter can accommodate up to three battery units, each with a capacity of 4 kWh. This achieves a maximum usable storage capacity of up to 12 kWh.
For its modern, innovative and appealing design, the Vitocharge VX3 was awarded the Design Plus powered by: Light + Building by the German Design Council.
Vitocharge VX3 – one product for many applications
With just three units and a modular design, all PV power storage applications for single- and two-family homes are covered. The Vitocharge VX3 is versatile and can be used in the following applications:
As a (hybrid) photovoltaic power storage system
As an AC-coupled power storage system (for retrofitting an existing PV system)
As a pure photovoltaic inverter
The hybrid inverter has an AC connection: 4.6 kVA/single-phase DC connection: 2 x PV inputs with MPP trackers, 1 x multifunctional for batteries or additional PV strings with MPP trackers. The Vitocharge VX3 storage system is available in three configurations: with 2, 4, and 6 batteries, each with 2 kWh. Depending on the configuration, either 4, 8, or 12 kWh of storage capacity can be used. The battery modules can be housed in a timelessly attractive housing that holds two modules each. Whether suspended or floor-standing, the Vitocharge VX3 can be set up flexibly and, thanks to its compact design, fits seamlessly into any home.
Independence even in the event of a power failure - supply of consumers in backup power mode
The Vitocharge VX3 optimizes PV energy consumption and makes its owner less dependent on the local energy supplier. The underlying concept allows for selective selection of individual consumers to continue to be supplied in the event of a power outage. Backup power operation is enabled by the backup box available as an accessory. This ensures that the most important consumers (lights, refrigerator, network technology) continue to function reliably in the event of a power outage.
PV recharging in case of power failure
In the event of a power outage, the battery supplies the home's appliances and is simultaneously recharged by the PV system. This allows for long periods without a public grid connection to be bridged.
Intelligent capacity utilization
By maintaining a capacity reserve and intelligently regulating the depth of discharge, the usable storage capacity of the Vitocharge VX3 can be kept constant – unlike conventional capacity utilization – and only decreases at the very end of its service life. This provides customers with high performance from the power storage system from day one, consistently supplying electrical consumers in the home for years to come.
Maximum yields in shading
The integrated yield maximization function minimizes losses due to (partial) shading of the PV system. This is standard on every Vitocharge VX3, and the intelligent software optimizes the PV system for maximum yield at all times. The performance of the individual PV strings is analyzed at regular intervals, and the system's maximum output is adjusted accordingly.

Installation conditions:
A 400V power connection (three-phase alternating current connection) is required for the installation of this device. The assembly (electrical installation) as well as the initial commissioning and maintenance of this device may only be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with the applicable regulations and these instructions!
